Rules May Vary…
When traveling with your four-legged friends, be aware of animal health requirements that may be specific to both your final destination as well as stops along the way.
Once you’ve planned your trip, contact your local vet to help prepare for the pet travel process. Things to consider include meeting time deadlines to obtaining health certificates, diagnostic testing, or even instruction on administration of medications. It’s also a good idea to locate a vet near where you’ll be staying. Should an emergency arrive you’ll be prepared and know exactly where to go. Also be aware of leash and muzzle laws that vary state-to-state.
And finally, double check with your hotel before arrival. Make sure that your buddy is within the weight/size restrictions dictated by the business. Even though a place might be labeled as “pet-friendly” there’s always the chance that they don’t allow certain breeds or types of animal. Better to check first!
Get your pup’s paperwork in order, locate a friendly vet nearby, and you’ll be ready to roll!
